This weekend marked the end of the Duke of Edinburgh expeditions for this academic year.

In September Mrs Baillie and I launched an exciting opportunity for Fowey students to take part in. Year 9 Students were offered Bronze Award and Year 10 Silver Award, following their hard work in the previous year.

To achieve their awards students have volunteered in the community, learned new skills and explored new physical activities. On top of this Bronze participants  experienced a two day expedition. Silver participants embarked on a three day expedition. Within the expedition students were expected to carry all the equipment they would require for the days they were out including cooking equipment, food, tents, sleeping bags and not forgetting of course a full set of clean clothes!

The 47 students who took part did so with perseverance, enthusiasm and even a smile – no matter what the weather!

Seeing how the students have grown and flourished throughout the DofE experience has made me immensely proud of their hard work and proud to be a part of the FRA family. I am already looking forward to next year’s exciting programme of Duke of Edinburgh.
