Key worker provision: Next week is the last week of the summer term and we continue our provision for key worker students. We remind you that the term ends at 13:30 on Friday 17th July.
Sports Hub Reopening: Great news! The Government is allowing all gyms and sports centres to open from 25th July. The Sports Hub will start opening its doors then, with guidelines and safety measures in place to ensure it is a safe place to get fit. With fantastic new kits and spaces that have been recently refurbished and great prices, what better way to celebrate lockdown easing than to take up membership and support your community sports centre. Live LessonsThese will continue next week but some may be affected by staff meetings as all staff will be in school next week to prepare for our full opening and ensuring we are following all of the Government guidelines. Please check your Microsoft Teams App, Firefly and school email for Live Lessons and task information for Week 9. There will be no English Live Lessons for Years 7-9 as it is ‘Shakespeare Festival Week’ and students will be working on their creative Shakespeare projects.
Remote Learning Firefly Lessons: Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 will be set remote learning lessons through Firefly as usual. All tasks to be accessed and submitted through Firefly.
Year Ten: The last sessions finished today, they were very well attended and feedback from all parties was very positive. Next week will be a Virtual Work Experience Week for Year 10.
Next year: School will open to all students on Monday 7th September. The Government has only recently updated its guidance on what is expected in schools next year and so we have been working hard to get all the plans in place before the holidays! Students will spend all day in year group ‘bubbles’ and will receive their lessons in one dedicated year group area with specialist staff moving to them. This is a big change with obvious logistical challenges for us and so it will take time to ensure all our plans are in place and effective. Luckily the experience we have gained from bringing Year 10’s back has put us in a good place and we have learnt a lot over the last few weeks. We will be uploading more details on a special COVID-19 page on our website over the coming week. If Government guidance changes, we will update the COVID-19 page and will let you know.
The recovery curriculum: We have spent a lot of time planning the recovery curriculum for all students. We understand that there will be many different concerns and worries for the students in returning and we have made sure that we cater for all of these needs in dedicated recovery curriculum sessions and during normal lessons.
