Dear Parent / Carer,
First of all, I would like to thank you all for the support we have received over the last few, difficult
weeks. We have had numerous positive messages from our students’ families as well as local
schools and these have been gratefully received.
None of us could have predicted how this term would start but increased Covid infection numbers
locally, as well as nationally in the case of young people, have certainly made the new school year a
challenging one. We have done all that we could to ensure the academy remains open despite
having to close to specific year groups on certain days.
We hope that we are now over the worst of the situation and that the new half-term will see a return
to something much closer to normal. In order to start the new half-term with the high standards we
expect, could I ask that your child returns to school on Monday 1st November in full uniform and can
I also remind parents that hoodies and trainers are not part of the FRA kit. We do have a uniform
swap shop should anyone need support with uniform.
We would also suggest that, for the time being at least, students continue to wear masks if they can,
in public places and on the school buses. This will help prevent transmission of Covid-19 as well as
the various flu-like bugs the onset of Winter inevitably brings. We have just been informed that parents can now book vaccines for their children aged 12-15. We would encourage as many as possible to take this up as it will make us all safer at school.
Due to the amount of in-school time missed we are not intending to run our project week from the
16th to 19th November, this time will be used in normal lessons to catch up on any missed work and
extend the learning and understanding for the students.
Dates:
- Inset day (school closed to students) Monday 15 th November
- Christmas break Friday 17 th December 12:30 finish – return to school on Tuesday 4 th Jan
- Queens Jubilee extra holiday Friday 18 th February 2022 (closed to students)
All of our term dates and events can be found here.
Once again, many thanks for the support shown to the academy and its staff over the last few
weeks and I wish you all a happy and healthy half-term break.
Yours sincerely,
Ben Eddy
Headteacher
