It’s a privilege to take up the role…

Chris Williams, Local Academy Committee Chair

I’d like to introduce myself as the new chair of the Local Academy Committee and to thank Philip de Grey-Warter for his courageous and principled work. It’s a privilege to take up the role, to work with our new, dynamic Trust and support the work of Martin Dale and staff here.  A little about my background – I’m married,  live in the local community, have worked in education for many years and have a grown-up family. I started my professional life as an English teacher, worked as an adviser, inspector and was head of three secondary schools.  Over my career I developed, wrote and led training for senior leaders in education and held national posts, including as Senior Secondary Director of the National Strategies.

Now we’ve come to live in Fowey, it’s great to be able to continue to make a contribution to education and play a part in keeping the school at the heart of the community.   My role will be to work with the first-rate team of governors and staff we have at the Academy, make sure the school  gives every student the best education we can offer and, vitally, to keep in close touch with parents, carers and students.  I look forward to working with you all.
